Surgery

So on February 17th I had reconstructive knee surgery. I had to have my lateral and bilateral tendons replaced. Also the tendon that connects your knee cap to your shin (not the ACL) had to be cut off the bone and repositioned. He had to screw the tendon to my bone. Yes, its has painful as it sounds. It was only suppose to be a 2-3 hour surgery but it took 6 hours. Once I came out of aniseshia they had a really hard time controlling my pain, so I had to stay the night. My night nurse was awesome. But the night CNA was good she just kept kicking my stuff so I had to ask her not to. Then she tripped over my foot and fell on top of me, luckily she did not hurt my knee. The day nurse and CNA's were horrible. When I paged for med's or to go to the bathroom I would have to wait 20 mins till they would come in, I would also have to wait that long for them to come in and get me off the toilet. So after sitting on the toilet for 20 mins with my leg in a very uncomfortable position by the time I would get back to bed my pain would be so bad that they would have to drug me all up again.

Once I got home everything was great, I have been able to control my pain and rest as needed. My mom came up and stayed a week with me and that was so helpful. I don't know what we would have done with out her. Tony also has taken such good care of me. He always makes sure that I am comfortable and that I have everything that I need. Kaleb and Ryan would jump and any chance to help their mom. It's sad to say that my 7 and 6 year old took better care of me then the nurse and CNA's I had. For the most part I am recovering nicely my pain is getting better day by day and I am getting around better. I will not be able to put pressure on my leg for 6 to 8 weeks, so I will be on crutches for a long time. I can't wait to return to school so I can start to get back to normal.

Update from November to January

November:

Not much really happened in November. My mom and dad came up to have Thanks giving with us. The boys loved it. My mom and I went and did black Friday shopping, it was the first time for both of us. We only did it because of the small town, it was like Jordan Landings Wal-Mart on a busy day so we could handle it.

December:

Well December was December we had a very nice Christmas. The day after Christmas the boys and I went to Utah to visit for a week. We had our annual adult Christmas party which was fun like always. When every you get Mark and Kirk together your guaranteed to laugh till it hurts or you pee your pants which ever comes first. We also had the first annual kids Christmas party, thanks Andrea for planning that the kids had a blast. They built there very own ginger bread houses, congrats to Chance who won. They also exchanged gifts, ate scones and drank hot chocolate and played games. For New Years it was just Kaleb, Ryan, my self, and my mom. We played the wii till midnight then went outside let the kids bang a spoon on a pan then went to bed.

January:

I started school, I am just taking my pre-rec's to nursing. The last few months I have been seeing a Orthopedic doctor because I have been having a lot of problems with my right knee. I have done physical therapy, Ibuprofen therapy and whatever the insurance company wanted me to do. Well the doctor said nothing is going to fix my knee except for surgery, I need to have most of my ligament reconstructed and the ligament that attaches your knee cap to your shin is in the wrong spot. They will have to cut the bone that the ligament is attached to and move it over to where is belongs. So needless to say I will be out of service for a while. We are just waiting to see if the insurance will cover it. I am praying that it goes in my favor I have been in so much pain the last few months and it's not getting better it's only getting worse. The boys have also started to play hockey, they love it! It sounds like this will be one that they want to stick to for a while. I will soon post some picture's

Adventures with Ryan

Well with Ryan being Ryan I have a few stories to tell.

Early on morning about 5am Tony and I get woken up by a really loud thumb then Ryan came running into our room cried. He feel out of bed and hit his head on the toy box. Not really thinking clearly I gave him some Tylenol and an ice pack let him lay next to me we went back to sleep. I get woke up with Ryan poking me, "mom, mom" what I reply there is blood on the ice pack is that okay, so I took him into the living room and he had a pretty good gash on his forehead so I had him miss school and took him into the doctors. Luckily stitches where not need they just butterflied it closed. So on the way home I stopped off at the store and got him a treat. He picked out a lollie pop, not just a normal lollie pop but one that is as big as his head.

Then a month later...
Ryan asked if he could have a apple, so of course I gave him one, After one big bite he comes running to me. Mom I think my tooth just feel out, so I looked and the tooth was still there but just hanging on so I took some tissue grabbed the tooth and out it came.
Ryan, "What I lost my first tooth!"

From Summer to Halloween

Wow I have really been slacking on my blog. Well since we have moved here are some of the things we have been doing to keep our self's busy. Kaleb played flag football which he really liked and has made him more excited for tackle football. Ryan played soccer which he really loves, I see him sticking with soccer for a while. We did the city fair, that was a lot of fun. We did a lot of swimming, the ward camp out, and Ryan and I went to the movie in the park downtown. We have added two new member's to our family, Mo the Guinea Pig and Mr. Whiskers the Teddy Bear Hamster. We have been able to see Tony's dad more and have been able to do some horseback riding.

We have successfully started school. Both the boys seem to really like the new school and they have made many friends. I really like the school all the teachers seem really invested in the students and really try to make the kids do there best. About a month after school we made a trip back down to Utah for one of my best friends wedding. While there we went to the Children's Museum and the Zoo with the whole Fife clan. We have had such a busy summer.

I took the boys to a pumpkin patch to pick there pumpkins that place had a big slide that went down a hay stack. The boys loved going down it. Halloween has been fun they shut down Main Street so that the kids can go Trick-or-Treating they go from store to store and get a load of candy, they also went to the Trunk-or-Treat at the church, and the Trunk-or-Treat that the High School kids put together for the kids. Both my boys decided to be Ninjas.

In January I will be starting school. I will be getting my RN so I have many years of school ahead of me but I am really excited to get started on my career goals.

Our new home

So we have finaly made the move to Walla Walla, WA. I love it here it's a small town but not to small were everyone knows everyone. We have an apartment till we can afford to buy a home. It's a two bedroom one bathroom apartment. It's a quite and cozy place.

The weekend I moved here they were doing a wood carving compition. These guys carve statues out of wood with chainsaws. It's really cool to watch the boys liked it too.
For now the boys and I are adjusting to living in a new area, but are adjusting well. We have checked out some parks in the area and one of the parks has this really cool light up game were you have to hit the lights as they light up. There was about 7 different games that you could play. It is alot of fun. All the parks here have this big spider web thing that the kids can climb. It's great if you have boys that like to climb.

Disneyland

The last week in June I went to Disneyland with my parents and my kids. It had been about 10 yrs since I have been to Disneyland. So much had changed, it was also my boys first time there. We had so much fun. We did 2 days of Disneyland and then 1 day at the beach and Medieval Times dinner then back to Disneyland for 2 more days.

Disneyland was fun we were able to see allot of characters and see lots of shows and parades we when on all the rides even the Tower to Terror, although the boys were in tears when the ride was over. The boys loved the Medieval dinner they were on the edge of there sit the whole show.

The beach was fun until we lost Kaleb! Yes I said lost.

The Day started off fun we slept in at a great breakfast at Denny's then headed to the beach. Once we got there I took the boys to the water. They were amazed on how the ocean just kept going. We stood on the shore and when the water started to go back Ryan freaked out. So Ryan was having the most fun on the beach way from the water looking for sea shells. So Kaleb and I would go out and jump the waves we had so much fun laughing and screaming and hanging on each other. So after a while I noticed that if you stood on the shore when the water would pull back sea shells would tumble down. So I called Ry over and was showing him the sea shells but like I said earlier he did not like the feeling of the ocean pulling back so he when back to Grandpa to look for shells up there. So Kaleb, Grandma and I looked for sea shells for Ryan. Kaleb said, "look mom look at this sea shell" Me " Wow that is really pretty" I bend down pick up a sea shell go to show Kaleb and he is not there. So I ask my mom where is Kaleb her reply right over here....well he was here a second a go. So we holler at my dad is Kaleb with you he said no. Panic sets in I keep telling my self not to cry not yet. My thought was that a wave knocked him down and he has been swept out to the ocean and I will never see him again. My mom at this point is talking to the life guard and they wave me over to tell him what he is wearing. There was this gal over there she looks out and said, "is that him" Me "were" because I can not see him she points him out and sure enough it was him. I don't think I ran so fast in my life. He had gone all the way down to the other life guard tower and was on his way back. I would say that they put those about 1/2 mile apart. When I picked him up and said, "don't do that to me ever ever again" Kaleb said what I told him that we lost him he said "I was not lost, I thought that grandpa was sitting by 18 but when I got down there it was 19 so I knew I had to come back this way." Me "18 what are you talking about?" Kaleb "the numbers on the side of these towers." who knew that they number the life guard towers. Well at least I can say my 7 year old was using his brain. So after that we all sat down drank some water and I was ready to leave so we packed up and left.

For the most part California was a blast!

Memorial Weekend

I had a great time camping with my family at the San Rafael Swell over Memorial weekend. It was me and my boys, my mom and dad, Mark & Rachel and their kids, Kirk and Andrea and their kids, and Rachel's mom and dad. We got to go see a dinosaur foot print and Indian pictographs. We had a lot of fun just sitting around the campfire talking and going on hikes in the day. I was glad that we went and saw all the cool things in one day because when we got back to camp to cook hot dogs and hamburgers for diner. I made Ryan a hot dog, with the hot dog in one hand and a beer in the other I turned around to go give Ryan his hot dog. I did not see the camping chairs on the ground behind me so I tripped an fell. As I was laying there in the dirt with the hot dog in the air yelling get this to Ryan. Colton walks up and says, "You spilled your beer." So Mark and my Mom took me to the hospital were I found out that I tore and pull the ligaments in my ankle.
